After my workout this morning, I was amazed to find myself daydreaming about a public speaking event that I participated in back in elementary school. The ended up recalling the words to the the poem that I had recited over and over for the competition. I also remember that my close girlfriend at the time, Niki, won the event with her speech “Being Short” and recall the number of days we would sit and practice with each other and laugh harder and harder each time we practiced. A smiled to myself and relished in the fact that I was able to have such a pleasurable moment thinking back to an event that had happened almost thirty, yes 30, years ago. The power of the mind is a wonderful and beautiful thing. Seize the moment, and seize this day. Carpe Diem!
The Little Elf —JOHN KENDRICK BANGS.
I met a little Elf-man, once, Down where the lilies blow. I asked him why he was so small And why he didn’t grow. He slightly frowned, and with his eye He looked me through and through. “I’m quite as big for me,” said he, “As you are big for you.” |
Well now , how that brings back memories to me. It was a poem that I found for you cause I thought it was so cute ….Funny how some stay with you forever.
