After pondering for a couple of weeks and being inspired at the most recent AANL Art Show in St. John’s, I decided to sketch and paint a poinsettia in watercolor to see how it would turn out. I was in awe as to how the color reacted with the paper, and how just a subtle touch or move could change the whole appearance of what I was working on. I thought that I had a lot of patience with painting before; this was a whole new experience! I’m hooked! Can’t wait to try it again, this time with less color loading at first, and more time drying between applications.
Good work! Yes watercolors are quite different. They are less forgiving, and patience is virture. Pat Ryan is a ninja at this. Mary Pratt is also amazing if you need more inspiration!(Actually this self portait of me is a watercolor)
